Lady Luck Flower Farm
We are Katie, Mike and Garnet, and we love growing flowers and medicinal herbs in Big Sandy Mush, NC.
Mike hails from Durham, attended UNCA and has a degree in horticultural science from Haywood Community College. He managed a small landscaping and gardening business before we started farming together. Katie is a native Ashevillian. She attended Warren Wilson College and NC State University, where she studied communications and public relations. She found her true calling at The Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, where she dove deep into the world of medicinal plants and the great beauty of our native flora and fauna. She worked for a small flower farm in Marshall, and after a few seasons realized that she wanted to make a career of growing flowers.
We started our farming adventure in 2008. With the help of our families, we were able to purchase our own farm in Big Sandy Mush, just outside of Leicester, where we have been farming since 2012. We welcomed our son in January 2014, and life has never been the same!
We are so thankful for all the support we have received on this venture, seen and unseen, which is one of the reasons we named our farm after the Goddess of Love, Lady Luck!
We harvest a wide variety of flowers and medicinal herbs from April to October. We are strongly committed to the stewardship of the land and only use organic inputs to grow our crops. We see the farm as a microcosm of our planet Earth, where individual organisms work symbiotically to nurture and sustain one another.
